Our students, staff, and school families raised $2,632.90 in alms this Lent.  Way to Go!

Staff News Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Shelby Hicks to our faculty for this upcoming school year. We actually welcomed Mrs. Hicks to our school earlier this school year when she agreed be the long-term substitute teacher for Mrs. Rzepecki. Mrs. Hicks is a graduate of Grand Valley and has taught in Florida for a few years before moving back to Michigan. You can find Mrs. Hicks next year in fourth grade. Shelby, we’re thrilled to have you on staff!

Recently Waverly Community Schools informed me that Mrs. Elda Keaton, our speech and language teacher through Waverly, would be retiring at the end of this school year. We thank Mrs. Keaton for her service to our students and their families this past year and wish her the best in her retirement. At the same time Waverly also informed me that her replacement would be Kim Molnar. Mrs. Molnar began her teaching career at St. Gerard School as a Speech and Language Teacher. Two years ago she was assigned to another school in the Waverly School District. Upon Mrs. Keaton’s retirement, the team at Waverly felt that Mrs. Molnar would be a good fit back at St. Gerard due to her history in our building and the fact that her children also attend our school. We are so glad to welcome Mrs. Molnar back to St. Gerard.

Finally we want to extend many prayers to Mrs. Carol Benjamin, our tuition secretary, as she faces surgery on her ankle this coming Friday. Mrs. Benjamin is set to return to school sometime in the middle to the end of June. Mrs. Gromek, our past school secretary, has agreed to help with many of the aspects of her position and is working closely with Mrs. Benjamin so that our families continue to receive necessary information. We certainly would appreciate your patience as we work out the details. Thank you Mrs. Gromek for helping out!
